It didn’t live up to the hype generated back in 2006, but it has stood out as a genre-breaking game. There was one major flaw with it, however. The mechanics of the space stage were almost perfect, and one feature let it down – pirate raids, and to a lesser extent, ecodisasters. There’s something not fun about all your allies/other planets being complete pansies about attacks. The main problem was this – picture the setting – your allies possess sprawling galactic empires, and they clearly have well over a hundred, if not, a thousand ships to their name. Yet, despite all this, they fall to their knees and beg you to help them from a horrific disaster! They have far more resources than your empire, having only the capability for one, measly ship. I mean, c’mon…we’re a space-faring civilization with the ability to build hyperspace-capable ships that can eat most planetary empires for breffix…and these yobbos can’t fight their own battles once in a while? Seriously…I’d like to RUN the empire, not micro-manage it, thankyouverymuchindeed! Fix this, cure that, save us from pirates…do it yourself, you helpless, lazy bums! I hate it when I’m in the middle of something–often something quite important–and suddenly everybody starts screaming for my attention. Of course, this horrific disaster is, well, not-so-much. You, the almighty player, are requested to – get this – kill five animals with a lazer beam. …why can’t my planets defend themselves? They have airplanes, and weapons and all that other good stuff, but I still have to travel half way across my empire to save a stupid planet from pirates.Īre biospheres really that unstable that a colony worker can’t even walk outside the colony and do the culling themselves?ĭon’t even get me started on “Space Pirates”… And you must traverse interstellar distances to achieve this feat. Am I suppose to be my empire’s king or god or savior or whatever…. Why is it my job to save all of these planets from that stupid junk…. ***Permission to use music was granted.I recently decided to pick up Spore again, with the intention of colonizing the whole galaxy – yes, I know it’s a practically unreachable task, no need to remind me – and quickly enough I realized by myself that the event mechanics were broken. messy as sony vegas was fighting me while editing, so apologies for any weird moments i didn't manage to catch and snuff out. ***Permission to use music was granted.*** Save Cancel Of course, it is impossible to use them because they are invisible, but its a strange thing. Regarding the "These limbs will make you crash unless you're me" bit: For whatever reason (Must be something with my system), I do not crash when trying to put the crash-limbs on and I do not crash if I even try to use them. I've always had this strange interest in the flora editor, maybe because its something we couldn't have yet do have access to. I decided to define functional as "I can make a plant without crashing once, and it can look good." Because let's face it, compared to what we used to have this is a damn miracle. This is a little showcase of the Branching Evolution mod for spore, a continuation on Davo's flora editor being developed by Rob55Rod.Īt this stage, the editor is pretty much functional aside from certain parts causing crash, some weird bugs and glitches, and most of the detail parts missing models. ![]()
